Suffolk County Police K9 Dies From Sudden Illness
A K9 who served in the Suffolk County Police Department for more than five years has died from a sudden illness. SCPD reported that Dallas V, a 6-year-old German Shepherd, died on Wednesday, Sept. 1. Police said Dallas V joined the police department in 2016 and trained with handler Kenneth Michaels. The German Shepherd was trained to detect narcotics and track suspects. Dallas V also visited schools and attended community events. Local Police Departments Throughout NY Must Implement These Reforms, Cuomo Executive Order Says
Law enforcement agencies throughout New York State are being required by Executive Order to “reform and reinvent” the way they police while collaborating with their communities amid civil unrest in the wake of George Floyd's death in Minneapolis. New York Gov. Suffolk County Police Detective Posthumously Honored For Distinguished Service
A detective from the Suffolk County Police Department has been posthumously honored for his distinguished service. Suffolk County Police Detective William Maldonado will be honored by United States Attorney General William P. Barr at the third annual Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service in Policing on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in Washington D.C. Maldonado, who lost a three-year battle with colon cancer in April 2018, is one of 19 law enforcement members nationwide to receive this distinction.
