Drive-By Killing: Alleged Gang Members Indicted For Long Island Incident
Two men and suspected gang members from Long Island were indicted for their alleged role in a 2019 drive-by murder, officials said.
On Tuesday, Aug. 29, Deion Barros (also known as “D” and “Little D”), age 27, was arraigned on charged including murder for a 2019 Hempstead incident, one week after Taiquan Cullum (also known as “Tay Tay”), age 33 was similarly arraigned, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.
Cullum, age 33, and Barros, age 27, both Hempstead residents, are accused of killing 36-year-old Paul LaRue in 2019 as an act of revenge.

Man Dies Days After Being Struck By SUV Near Hempstead Intersection
A man has died from injuries he suffered after he was struck by an SUV on Long Island.
The crash happened in Hempstead on Sunday, May 29 at around 1:10 a.m., according to Nassau County Police.
The man was crossing Fulton Avenue near Clinton Street when he was hit by the 2013 Mercedes Benz SUV, according to police.
The driver of the SUV, Alrich Braide, age 34, of Hempstead, who remained at the scene, was charged with driving with a suspended license.
On Friday morning, June 3, police announced that the man struck has been pronounced dead by a hospital physician.

Long Island Man Convicted Of Attempting To Murder Four Police Officers
A Long Island man has been convicted for attempting to kill four Nassau County police officers during a traffic stop.
Duane Costa, age 37, of Uniondale, was found guilty on Thursday, Dec. 16 of four counts of attempted murder and other charges in connection with the 2018 stop, said Acting Nassau County District Attorney Joyce Smith.

Man Faces DWI, Other Charges After Fatal Long Island Crash
A 29-year-old man who was allegedly driving while intoxicated is facing a host of charges after a fatal crash on Long Island.
The crash happened just before 11 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, according to Nassau County Police said.
A 31-year-old male victim was operating his Suzuki motorcycle, traveling southbound on Clinton Street, approaching Burr Avenue, police said.
The man facing charges, Darwin Velasquez, of Hempstead, attempted to make a left-hand turn, traveling northbound onto Burr Avenue, according to police.
