Long Island Prisoner, Woman Use 6-Year-Old To Pass Drugs, Cops Say
A Long Island woman was arrested, along with a Suffolk County inmate for allegedly using a 6-year-old child to pass drugs and contraband to the prisoner.
The arrests come after Sheriff’s Office Internal Security investigated a promoting prison contraband attempt between prisoner Kadeem Lewis, age 29, and visitor Shanita Limehouse, age 39, of Hempstead in Nassau County for an incident on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Riverhead Correctional Facility.

Parents Charged After Leaving Toddler Unattended In Car At Suffolk Target, Police Say
The parents of a 13-month-old child have been charged after police say they left the toddler alone in a car in the parking lot of a Long Island Target store.
Suffolk County Police received a 911 at call stating a baby was left unattended in a parked vehicle that was turned off in the parking lot the Target in Bay Shore, located at 838 Sunrise Highway, at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5.
Third Precinct officers arrived and saw the baby did not appear to be in distress, according to police.

Woman Charged With Leaving Kids Alone In Freezing SUV At Long Island Mall, Police Say
Police charged a Long Island woman with leaving her two children unattended in a freezing SUV while she shopped.
Guadalupe Guevara-Diaz, 27, of Brentwood, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 18, after officers responded to the parking lot of the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove in response to a 911 call reporting to young children alone in a vehicle, Suffolk County Police said.
When officers arrived on the scene around 6 p.m., they found two children, a 9-year-old girl, and a 3-year-old boy, alone in a parked 2008 Nissan Pathfinder, according to police.

A Long Island couple is facing charges after allegedly abandoning a 6-year-old girl this week, in part because she reportedly cried too much, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Suffolk Woman Arrested After Child Left Home Alone Allegedly Starts Two Fires
A woman was arrested after a 7-year-old left home alone on Long Island allegedly started two fires.
Nora Soto-Cordova, 32, of Northampton in Suffolk County, was arrested at 10:45 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, after Southampton Police responded to a residence in Northampton for a house fire, said Southampton Police Lt. Susan Ralph.
Officers spoke to a resident who found a fire had been started in his bedroom and another in the kitchen area, Ralph said.

A Long Island mother who allegedly shot the father of her child and then went on the run, prompting an AMBER Alert, has turned herself in to police.
According to the Southampton Police Department, Patchita Tennant, 42, of Riverhead, surrendered at the police department earlier Friday, Sept. 6, said Southampton Police Lt. Susan Ralph.
Her 3-year-old daughter was found safe earlier in the day following an AMBER Alert being issued after her father was allegedly shot by Tennant, police said.
