Drunk 21-Year-Old Crashes Into Vacant Business On Long Island, Police Say A 21-year-old man was hospitalized following a suspected drunk-driving crash into a vacant business on Long Island. The early-morning incident happened in Westbury, on Old Country Road near Carman Avenue, at around 2:40 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. Nassau County Police said Aidan Schwartz, of Wantagh, was driving a Honda sedan when he crashed into a vacant building at 1137 Old Country Road. Fire Guts Long Island Deli, Apartment Building A fire destroyed a Long Island business and displaced several residents from an upstairs apartment. Nearly a dozen agencies responded to the commercial fire that broke out at around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28 in West Babylon, at Frank's Deli on Little East Neck Road. By the time firefighters arrived, flames had spread to much of the deli’s ceiling, eventually causing part of the roof to collapse. The incident took place around 10:30 p.m., Friday, March 5, in Nassau County at the Subway on South Main Street in Freeport, said the Freeport Fire Department. Facade Collapses At Long Island Apartment Complex Bricks fell from a facade of a Long Island apartment complex, damaging seven vehicles. The incident took place around 11:18 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, at an apartment complex located at 191 Hawthorne Ave., in Central Islip, said the Suffolk County Police. Seven vehicles were damaged.  Officials said there were no injuries.  The Central Islip Fire Department also responded. The Town of Islip Fire Marshal and Building Inspector was notified.

The incident took place around 7:45 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 1031 Montauk Highway and Van Buren Street in Mastic, said the Suffolk County Police. There were no injuries, and the damage to the building was superficial, police said.
