A Long Island man twice tried – and failed -- to carjack a truck from an employee at a mansion before he crashed his own car and was quickly taken into custody, authorities said. The victim, who works at a multi-million New Jersey home in Bergen County on Piermont Road in Rockleigh near the Rockland County border, chased off James Dickerson, age 44, of Rockville Centre, shortly after 5 a.m. Monday, Northvale Police Lt. A Long Island man accused of shooting his parents on Christmas morning was captured hours later in Mahwah, New Jersey. Dino Tomassetti, a 29-year-old bodybuilder recently of the East Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, remained held Sunday in the Bergen County Jail on a detainer out of Nassau County. Repeat Offender From Long Island Charged With Harassing Worshippers At Synagogue
A repeat offender accused of threatening law enforcement officers and members of the Jewish community in New Jersey and on Long Island did it again in Fort Lee, New Jersey, authorities said. Trucker Charged With Vehicular Homicide, Assault In NJ Crash That Killed Suffolk Man
A chain-reaction crash on the NJ Turnpike that claimed the life of a Long Island man was caused by a Seattle truck driver, said New Jersey State Police, who charged him with vehicular homicide. Stefan (Stephen) Shipinkoski, 22, remained held Thursday in the Bergen County Jail on death-by-auto and assault-by-auto charges following his arrest Wednesday.
