Long Island Store Shut Down After Clerk Sells E-Cigs To Minor, Police Say
A Long Island convenience store was shut down and a clerk was arrested after he allegedly sold e-cigarettes to a minor.
The arrest took place in Wyandanch around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Alex Convenience Store, at 301G Merritt Ave.
In response to community complaints, Suffolk County Police conducted an investigation into the sale of e-cigarettes to minors at the store.
At that time, a clerk at the store, Haseeb Alnthari, sold a vape to a minor, police said.
Police said the town of Babylon issued numerous code violations and shut down the business.

Hundreds of students of Maine Maritime Academy gathered over the weekend to honor four of their classmates who were killed in an early morning crash in eastern Maine on Saturday, Dec. 10, that left a Long Island resident seriously injured, reports said.
Paramedics rushed the driver, Joshua Goncalves-Radding, age 20, of Babylon, along with passengers Noelle Tavares of North Falmouth, Massachusetts, and Dominick Gecoya of Middleton, Massachusetts, also both 20 years old, to the hospital to treat their injuries from the wreck, ABC6 said. Two Long Island men are facing charges following the coordinated takedown of a national network of individuals who allegedly bought and resold stolen catalytic converters.
Twenty-one defendants were charged for their roles in the conspiracy in two separate indictments that were unsealed on Wednesday, Nov. 2, according to the United States Department of Justice.

Man Kills Grandmother After Intentionally Striking Her With Vehicle In West Islip, Police Say
A Long Island man has been charged with killing his grandmother after police say he intentionally struck her with a vehicle.
The incident happened in West Islip on Sunday, Oct. 16 at around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Tanglewood Road and Ryan Street.
Helga McNulty, age 80, of Babylon, was a passenger in a Subaru that was driven by her grandson, Raymond Gallo, Suffolk County Police said.
The Subaru traveled north on Tanglewood Road, and McNulty exited the vehicle, police said.
