A former Long Island high school teacher will avoid a felony conviction after admitting that he sexually abused a 15-year-old student. Former Babylon High School teacher Timothy Harrison, age 48, of Oak Beach, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child in Suffolk County Court on Friday, Sept. 15. Dozens of students at a Long Island high school were sickened by a suspected outbreak of norovirus, health officials confirmed. More than 80 students were reported absent at Babylon High School on Friday, March 17, after suffering a gastrointestinal illness, according to Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. Gregson Pigott.
