Carlos Lauro, age 76, of Riverhead, was sentenced to one year in jail in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, Jan. 18, after pleading guilty to animal abuse charges. On Thursday, Oct. 26, 70-year-old Kevin Barnett was arraigned on charges including torturing the dog, a mixed breed named Jessica, according to the Nassau County District Attorney. Barnett brought Jessica to the West Hempstead Animal Hospital on Saturday, July 1 asking for the dog to be cremated. Man Charged With 92 Counts Of Animal Neglect On Long Island The Suffolk County SPCA has arrested an area man on 92 violations for failing to provide food and water to several animals in his care. SPCA Detectives arrested Marlon A.
