Brentwood Man Driving Drunk Slams Into Cruiser On Long Island Expressway In Ronkonkoma: Police
A man who was driving drunk on the Long Island Expressway slammed into a police cruiser and then another vehicle involved in an earlier crash overnight, according to authorities. The incident happened just before 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, in Ronkonkoma. Jose Martin Abeu Jr., age 28, of Brentwood, was driving a 2020 Honda sedan on the eastbound near Exit 58, when he crashed his vehicle into the rear of the stopped police vehicle that had been directing traffic after a prior crash, and then into a 2008 Ford F150 that was involved in the original crash. Sergeant From Hudson Valley Charged With DWI, Hit-Run
An NYPD sergeant from the Hudson Valley was charged with DWI and hit-and-run following a pursuit with the New York State Police on the Palisades Interstate Parkway. The incident occurred in Rockland and Orange counties on Sunday, Aug. 4, in Haverstraw and Highlands. According to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police, around 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, troopers received word of a hit-and-run on the Palisades Parkway in the town of Haverstraw. Three people have been accused of driving drunk during an overnight sobriety checkpoint at a busy Long Island intersection. Vomit-Covered Man Asleep Behind Wheel In Westchester Busted For DWI, Police Say
A vomit-covered man from Long Island asleep behind the wheel of a parked car on a busy Westchester street was allegedly driving while impaired, police said. An officer from the Scarsdale Police Department was on patrol shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, when he spotted a 2019 Honda Accord parked in the right southbound lane of Post Road with the engine running and key fob inside the vehicle. With Memorial Day in the rearview mirror, AAA is cautioning that the holiday kicked off the “100 Deadliest Days” for teen drivers on area roadways.
