Woman Critically Injured After Being Hit By Vehicle On Long Island, Police Say

A pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle on Long Island.

The woman was struck about 11:45 p.m., Sunday, May 30 while crossing the roadway Front Street in Hempstead, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, a 27-year-old woman was driving a 2007 Honda eastbound in the area of 555 Front St. and struck the woman who was crossing Front Street northbound.

The woman, who has not been identified, suffered severe head trauma and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The driver remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
