The incident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 14 in Central Islip.
Third Precinct officers responded to East Poplar Street after the 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a koi pond outside of a residence, Suffolk County Police said. The boy was transported via ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was revived.
The boy is expected to be transported to Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Queens for further treatment and is in serious condition.
