Suspect At Large After Firing Shots During Argument Near Long Island Shopping Center

A suspect who allegedly fired shots outside a Long Island shopping center in broad daylight is at large while another man is facing weapons charges in connection to the incident.

The incident happened around 1:15 p.m.on Saturday, July 25 in Manhasset.

According to Nassau County Police Gang Investigations Squad Detectives, Yuri Oluh, 22, of Queens had a verbal argument with the unidentified suspect in front of the Americana Shopping Center located at 1980 Northern Boulevard. 

The dispute escalated after the male suspect, described as being black, displayed a handgun and pointed it at Oluh, police said. 

The suspect then discharged several rounds at Oluh, who was not struck and fled the scene, according to police. No injuries were reported.

A short time later, officers located Oluh in the vicinity of Searingtown Road and Northern Boulevard. 

A subsequent investigation ensued revealing Oluh to have been in possession of a loaded silver handgun that police were able to safely recover. He was arrested without further incident. 

Oluh has been charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. 

He is due to be arraigned on Sunday, July 26 in Mineola.

The investigation into this incident continues.
