Sound Beach Man Had Sex With Underage Girl He Met On Social Media, Police Say

A man was arrested at his Sound Beach home for allegedly having sex with an underage girl that he met on social media.

Thomas Hinrichs of Sound Beach was arrested for allegedly having sex with an underage girl, according to Suffolk County Police.

Thomas Hinrichs, 33, was taken into custody at his home on Babylon Drive at around 4 p.m. Thursday, July 4 for the alleged crime that took place earlier this year, according to Suffolk County Police

The arrest followed a police investigation. He was charged with third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sex act, police said.

Hinrichs, 33, was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, July 5.
