It happened on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 1:40 p.m. in Massapequa.
According to Nassau County Police detectives, while walking on the sidewalk of Ontario Avenue at Broadway, the 47-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a Volkswagen sedan traveling south on Broadway.
The Volkswagen was in a collision with a Mercedes Benz SUV traveling east on Ontario Avenue.
As a result of the collision, the Volkswagen was redirected onto the sidewalk where the victim was struck, police said.
The pedestrian sustained serious head injuries and was transported to an area hospital. He is listed in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
