Officers were dispatched to a Warwick Street residence shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, when there were reports of a man waving a handgun near the basement door.

Police said that the responding officers gave multiple commands for the man - later identified as 36-year-old Luis Aguilar - to drop the weapon and exit the residence. Aguilar complied and was placed into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.

According to police, further investigation found that Aguilar was in possession of a defaced handgun and a substance “believed to be cocaine.”

Aguilar was arrested and charged with two counts of menacing, three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said that Aguilar would be arraigned when “medically practical.”
