Long Island Man Becomes Aggressive With Officers, Spits In Their Faces, Police Say

A Long Island man who police were attempting to help ended up under arrest after he became aggressive and began fighting with officers and spitting in their faces.

Elis Fernandez, 23, of Valley Stream, was arrested around 11:43 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 15, after officers responded to his home for a report of an ill person in need in Elmont, said the Nassau County Police.

When they arrived, Fernandez, immediately became aggressive with officers, police said. 

He began flailing his arms in an aggressive manner and spit in both officers’ eyes and faces, police said.

Officers were able to gain control of Fernandez and placed him under arrest before being transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

Fernandez was charged with harassment and resisting arrest and was arraigned on Monday, Nov. 16.
