Nassau County Police officers were dispatched to Matteo’s of Roslyn shortly before 8 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15 in Roslyn Heights, where there was a report of a burglary in progress, police said.
According to police, an African-American man wearing a black hoodie was spotted exiting the restaurant on Mineola Avenue through a broken glass door, fleeing on a bicycle with one flat tire.
The burglar - later identified as Bronx resident Talli Kebbeh, 24 - made it approximately a half-mile to the east, where he was apprehended outside the Shell gas station on Roslyn Road in Roslyn Heights without further incident.
Kebbeh was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary. He was being held overnight and is scheduled to get arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, Dec. 16.
