Officers with the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department say they initiated a traffic stop on the driver of a 2007 BMW on the center median that was partially blocking the left travel lane on Sunrise Highway near Exit 57/58 in Brookhaven on Friday, Sept. 27 around 12:45 p.m.
Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Sean Bell, 26, of Patchogue, was driving the vehicle without a required interlock device and that his license had been suspended six times on six dates, police say.
Bell was also found to be in possession of 150 flavored vape cartridges containing THC and approximately 2.5 pounds of marijuana, which police say was located in five vacuum-sealed bags in the trunk.
Bell was arrested and charged with the following:
- Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Second-degree criminal possession of marijuana
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
- Driving without an interlock device
Bell is scheduled to appear in court.
