The boy was riding his scooter at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Eastgate Road in Massapequa on Sunday, Aug. 2 when he was struck by a woman driving an older model two-door red pickup truck.
Police said that the driver then fled the scene and was last seen traveling northbound on Eastgate Road.
The minor suffered multiple serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is currently listed in stable condition.
According to police, the investigation is ongoing.
