New Police Chief In Region Grew Up In City He Now Serves A new chief of police in the region is no stranger to the area; he grew up there and has been part of the department for some 30 years.  Dutchess County resident Rich Wilson has been named the Chief of Police for the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department by Mayor Yvonne Flowers on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Beloved Hudson Valley Mother Of 3 Dies At Age 50 A Hudson Valley mother of three has died at the age of 50. Dutchess County resident Jennifer J. Strang-Thrasher, of Wassaic, died on Sunday, February 4, at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. Strang-Thrasher, born in Connecticut in the town of Sharon in Litchfield County, was a graduate of Dover High School and Dutchess Community College.  She was a direct care worker at Cardinal Hayes Home for Children in Millbrook, for 30 years, according to her obituary.
