Nearly A Dozen Need Decon After Officer Dispenses Pepper Spray In Dispute At Bergen Lake
Nearly a dozen people had to be treated at a Bergen County lake after a sheriff's officer responding to a dispute dispensed pepper spray, authorities said. It began when one group of mostly juvenile lake-goers at Darlington County Park got into an argument that somehow involved another group. Because Darlington is a county park, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton has officers stationed there during peak hours. His officers responded to the dispute and summoned Mahwah police. Authorities in Newark are seeking the public's help locating a woman accused using pepper spray during a traffic quarrel. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Iesha Myles, 29, who police say sprayed a victim with a tear-producing substance during a traffic quarrel around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Several Children Accidentally Pepper-Sprayed In Jersey City: Reports
As many as 25 children in Jersey City were treated after a classmate mistakenly set off a pepper spray container at school Wednesday morning, according to published reports. The incident occurred as third-graders were in a gym class at Whitney Young Jr. School, where the student activated a pepper-spray container attached to a keychain. The school was evacuated and reopened a few hours later. The incident was under investigation.
