A 68-year-old Passaic County man was killed when the plane he was piloting crashed in North Carolina over the weekend, authorities said. John M. Bofinger, of Hewitt, was the only person on board the single-engine Beechcraft 35 that crashed under unknown circumstances and then burst into flames Sunday afternoon, May 21, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
