Car Thieves Attempted To Carjack Mercedes At Gas Station: Newark PD Car thieves driving a vehicle stolen out of East Orange attempted to carjack a Mercedes Benz in Newark on the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 11, authorities said. The suspects were driving a stolen 2020 BMW from East Orange into Newark, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. Victim Robbed Of $250,000 Cash At Gas Station Near NJ/NY Border, Sources Say Two bandits took $250,000 in cash in a strong-arm robbery at a Route 17 gas station near the Rockland border in Mahwah, multiple sources said. No weapons were used in the 5 p.m. robbery Monday at the Mobil station on the northbound highway, they said. The robbers reportedly fled in a black Nissan after apparently following the victim there.
