𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: Authorities have tied the theft of two BMWs from the same Glen Rock home to two men recorded on a parking garage surveillance camera on the other side of the Hudson River. The 2024 X5 and 2023 X1 were both swiped from the driveway of a Greenway Road residence after the thieves forced open a rear window and took the key fobs – which were hanging on hooks near the front door – as well as wallets just before dawn last Nov. 17, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. Homeless Woman Stuck In Car Freed By Responders In Newark
A homeless woman seeking shelter in the cab of an abandoned vehicle was freed by responders in Newark on Tuesday, Feb. 28. It was unclear how long the woman had been in the vehicle on the 1200 block of McCarter Highway when Newark Police Emergency Service Unit members responded to 911 calls around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Police safely removed the victim. No further information was available.

Nutley Driver Rams Clifton Police Cruiser During Chase From Route 3 Into Newark
A Nutley driver intentionally rammed a Clifton police car in Newark, ending a high-speed chase that began after he was originally stopped on Route 3, authorities said. An officer stopped a Honda Accord driven by Joshua Ortiz, 26, on the eastbound highway shortly after 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Detective Sgt. Robert Anderson said. Ortiz was asked to exit the vehicle after rolling down his window and providing documents, but he hit the gas instead and took off onto southbound Route 21, Anderson said. Lyndhurst Police Stolen Car Chase Ends With Newark Crash, 3 Burglary Suspects Seized
A Lyndhurst police stolen car chase through Nutley and Belleville before dawn Wednesday ended with a crash off Route 21 in Newark and the arrests of three burglary suspects. Officer Rich Jasinski was on patrol on 10th Street when he saw a Honda Accord headed east on Kingsland Avenue tailgating another vehicle and going back and forth across the double-yellow line, Detective Sgt. Woman Struck And Killed Near Newark Library
A woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle around noon Tuesday near the Newark Public Library, authorities said. The driver who struck her left the scene and was last seen heading towards McCarter Highway. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office later said the driver was later found by Newark police and prosecutor's investigators a short time later. No charges had been filed as of Tuesday evening.
