14-Year-Old Attempted To Carjack Vehicle By Force: Jersey City PD
A 14-year-old Jersey City teenage boy was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 20 and charged with attempting to carjack a vehicle through force earlier this month, authorities said. At 6:25 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, the teenager tried to gain control of a person's vehicle through physical force on Suydam Avenue, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. Armed Man Apprehended Following Pursuit: Jersey City Police
A 30-year-old man was arrested in Jersey City on Saturday, Oct. 28 for being armed with a firearm following a pursuit with police, authorities said. At 2:23 a.m. police attempted to stop Byron Harrison at 169 Monticello Ave. Harrison fled the scene police gave chase, eventually apprehending Harrison, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. Harrison was charged with several weapons offenses, including unlawful possession of a weapon, and for being in possession of several controlled substances, Wallace-Scalfione said.

Rat Infestation Shuts Jersey City AMC Theater
Now playing at the AMC Newport Centre: "Ratatouille." "Willard." "The Secret of the Nimh." The Jersey City movie theatre was ordered closed by a city inspector on Wednesday, Sept. 27 due to a rat infestation, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. The theater owner was cited for the presence of rodents and multiple outer openings allowing a rodents entry source, Wallace-Scalfione said. The theater will owe a $100 inspection fee once all of the violations are abated and must be exterminated once per week going forward, Wallace-Scalfione said. …

Traffic Enforcement Officer Suffers Fractured Hip In Jersey City Crash With SUV: Authorities
A Jersey City traffic enforcement officer suffered a fractured hip when the scooter she was riding was struck by an SUV on Tuesday, Aug. 15, authorities said. The officer was traveling west on Lexington Avenue crossing the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard when she was hit by the SUV heading south, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. The officer was ejected from the scooter on impact, Wallace-Scalfione said. She was taken to a hospital with a broken hip, though her other injuries were non-life threatening, Wallace-Scalfione said. Body Found Near Holland Tunnel
A dead woman was found about a mile from the Holland Tunnel on the evening of Wednesday, July 19, authorities said. At 6:52 p.m., Jersey City police saw the body at 18th Street and Jersey Avenue, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. The woman was determined to be dead at the scene and the medical examiner's office responded, Wallace-Scalfione said. The death does not appear to be suspicious, Wallace-Scalfione said.
