NY Mailbox Thief Nearly Hits Officer In High-Speed NJ Chase, Police Say
A Westchester, NY man has been arrested for his role in a mailbox theft ring that plagued Bergen County for weeks, authorities said.
Edward Orozco, of Yonkers, was apprehended after a dramatic high-speed chase and a month-long investigation by the Wallington Police Department, Sgt. Brian Rosas said.
The theft ring, which targeted mailboxes in October, resulted in thousands of dollars in losses for residents after stolen checks were rewritten and repeatedly deposited, according to Rosas.

A Connecticut passenger pointed a handgun at a New Jersey State Police trooper during a pursuit on Route 287, authorities said Monday.
The pursuit, which began in Boonton, ended in a Mahwah park with the gunman and driver in custody and four weapons seized, NJSP Trooper Charles Marchan said.
A trooper tried to stop the Jeep Cherokee for a traffic violation on northbound Route 287 in Boonton Township shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, Marchan said.

A Newark man has been charged a man with manslaughter in connection with a high-speed chase that ended with a fatal crash in Orange County, NY.
Luis Colon, 27, was arrested on Monday, Dec. 7, and charged with manslaughter and unlawful fleeing a police officer, said the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Danielle Trotman, 22, sped off when she was stopped for driving erratically on Route 80 eastbound near milepost 38.4 in Denville Township around 8:20 p.m., NJSP Trooper Alejandro Goez told Daily Voice.
