Homicide Roundup: Prosecutor Releases Names Of 14 Accused Killers In Newark Summer Murders
It's been a busy four months for the Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force.
Fourteen suspects have been arrested in 12 Newark committed from Saturday, June 1 through Monday, Sept. 30, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said.
On Tuesday, June 4, Ty'Shon Young, a 27-year-old Newark resident was killed in a double shooting on the 200 block of South Orange Avenue, authorities said. Men Who Interfered With Kidnapping Suspect's Arrest Before Riot In Custody: Newark PD
Three men who assaulted a Newark police officer attempting to arrest a kidnapping suspect are in police custody, authorities announced.
The incident Friday, Aug. 5 around 12:15 a.m. began with the arrest of Alhassane Barry, 24, on the 400 block of Elizabeth Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. He was taken into custody following a citizen's complaint and charged with kidnapping, robbery, and weapons offenses, Frage said.

Driver Who Killed 2 In Stolen Car Captured In Newark (Video): Police
A Newark driver who killed two people when he struck their vehicle in a stolen car has been arrested, and police have released the footage of his capture, they said (scroll down for video).
Sharrod Rogers, 20, was behind the wheel of a 2021 Dodge Charger stolen out of Union struck an Acura, killing a man and woman, around 4:30 a.m. March 31, Newark Public Safety Director Brian O'Hara said.
Three teenage girls, who were passengers in the stolen vehicle, were also injured in the crash. Rogers and another passenger fled the scene on foot after the Dodge Charger burst into flames, O'Hara said.…
13 Shooting Suspects Arrested, 29 Firearms Recovered In Newark
Thirteen shooting suspects were arrested and 29 illegal weapons were recovered in the month in Newark, authorities said Friday.
The men were arrested for various incidents since Oct. 1, and the weapons were linked to incidents that occurred in the last two-week span, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.
The following arrests were made:
