3rd Accused Crew Member Busted By Glen Rock Police In $3,650 CVS Cosmetics Thefts
UPDATE: A third member of an organized crew was charged in connection with the theft of nearly $3,650 worth of cosmetics from a Glen Rock CVS in separate trips, authorities said.
Maria Lacerna-Fernandez, 35, of Paterson, participated in the shopliftings at the Rock Road pharmacy on May 19 and 24, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said on Tuesday, June 20.
Detective Sgt. James Calaski initially arrested Carla E. Granda-Jara, a 37-year-old resident of the Silk City, with help from his colleagues in Fair Lawn earlier this month, the chief said.

A Glen Rock police detective nabbed an organized pair of thieves -- one from Elmwood Park, the other from Paterson -- who swiped nearly $3,650 worth of cosmetics from a local CVS in separate trips, authorities said.
Detective Sgt. James Calaski identified Carla E. Granda-Jara, a 37-year-old resident of the Silk City, and Ricardo E. Campos-Bardales, 42, following the May 19 and May 24 shopliftings at the Rock Road pharmacy, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
Calaski arrested Granda-Jara with help from his colleagues in Fair Lawn last Thursday, June 8, the chief said.

Two Brooklyn residents were arrested in Bayonne for using gift cards to skim money from ATMs, police said.
Neculai Candet, 31, and Madalina Balmus, 41, were taken into custody on Friday, April 28, following a weeklong investigation, police said.
On Friday, April 21, a man reported four withdrawals from an ATM at a CVS, at either 560 Avenue C or Goldsborough Drive, totaling $560, police said. Later that day, two more people reported $200 and $343 withdrawn from their bank accounts, respectively, police said.

A 70-year-old Glen Rock man straddled the line between free speech and harassment, police said, when he stood behind an Asian-American woman at a CVS checkout counter and shouted that the Chinese Communist Party "caused COVID."
"That’s why we’re wearing these masks,” the man reportedly yelled, bringing police to the Rock Road store.
He yelled this several times, said the woman, who “felt threatened [because] she was the only Asian individual in the immediate area,” Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.

COVID-19 vaccines will be distributed by appointment only beginning this Monday, Dec. 28, to paid and volunteer Bergen County Category 1A health care workers, County Executive Jim Tedesco announced Saturday.
