The State of the Nation Project released its "State of the States" report as the US approaches its 250th anniversary. StudyFinds reported on the rankings on Friday, July 3.

$1M Powerball Ticket Sold At NJ Pharmacy
A $1 million-winning Powerball ticket was sold at a New Jersey pharmacy for the Saturday, July 11 drawing, New Jersey Lottery officials announced.
The ticket was purchased at Family Drug Shops, 19 Main St. in Branchville (Sussex County), according to the New Jersey Lottery.
The winning numbers were 8, 10, 14, 45, and 59, with a red Powerball of 5. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
The winning ticket matched five white balls to win the game's $1 million second-tier prize, lottery officials said.

Actor Randolph Mantooth, best known for his role as firefighter-paramedic Johnny Gage on NBC’s 1970s series "Emergency!," died Thursday, July 9, at 80, according to multiple reports.
Mantooth died at a hospice facility in Ventura, California, after years of declining health, People reported, citing his brother, Donald Mantooth.
