Bergen County Man Charged With Murdering 3-Month-Old Daughter
A North Arlington man was charged with murder in the death of his and his fiancée’s 3-month-old daughter. Aaron Medrano, 27, initially was charged with aggravated assault and released on Dec. 30, 2021, a week after the child was brought to Hackensack University Medical Center with several injuries. Baby Giovanna died last Wednesday, Jan. 5, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Medrano was re-arrested on Tuesday, this time on first-degree murder charges, the prosecutor said. A postal carrier from Hudson County admitted Thursday in federal court that he dumped 1,875 pieces of mail -- including general election ballots and campaign flyers – instead of delivering them. Nicholas Beauchene, 26, of Kearny was nabbed by special agents of the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General after a Saddle Brook man reported finding dumped bundles of mail in a dumpster behind a North Arlington bank last fall. Lodi Man Wanted On Long Island Nabbed By North Arlington Police
GOTCHA! A North Arlington police officer captured a Lodi man wanted out of Long Island following a traffic stop, authorities said. Officer Andrew Porporino stopped a 2016 BMW going more than 20 miles over the 30 mph limit on northbound Schuyler Avenue and found the driver extremely nervous, Police Chief Scott Hedenberg said. Porporino also noticed a “strong overpowering odor of air freshener” believed to be masking the odor of pot, he said. A fleeing shoplifter put the public at risk by speeding off from pursuing Lyndhurst police and then crashing her car in Kearny, authorities said.
