Death Penalty Sought For NJ Native Accused Of Killing Friend's Baby, Abusing Twin Brother
The death penalty is being sought against a PhD student from New Jersey who is accused of killing an infant boy and abusing his twin brother in Pennsylvania, according to court records obtained by Daily Voice on Friday, Sept. 6.
Nicole Virzi, 30, a PhD student who graduated from Northern Highlands Regional High School, was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, child endangerment, and more in connection with the incidents last June.

Bomb Threat On American Airlines Flight Diverts Plane From NJ To PA: Report
An American Airlines flight was diverted from Newark, New Jersey on its way to Dallas, Texas on Wednesday morning, Sept. 4, according to flight logs.
The flight, AA 1603, was diverted to Pittsburgh International Airport allegedly due to a bomb threat, as WPXI Channel 11 reported.
A flight attendant using the restroom supposedly spotted a "barely legible note written in pink pen on the door that said 'there’s a bomb on board,'" the outlet reported citing the FBI.

Tolls Increase On These 4 Bridges Between NJ, PA For First Time Since 2011
Tolls are going up on four Delaware River Port Authority bridges between New Jersey and Pennsylvania on Sunday, Sept. 1 for the first time since 2011.
The increase on the Ben Franklin, Betsy Ross, Commodore Barry, and Walt Whitman bridges went into effect at midnight.
For passenger vehicles, motorcycles, and small trucks, tolls increased from $5 to $6. For recreational vehicles and mobile homes, tolls go up from $.7.50 to $9 per axle. For buses, the increase goes from $3.75 to $4.50.

Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Ends In Linden Crash, 3 In Custody: Cops
Three people were in custody in Linden following a pursuit-crash involving a stolen vehicle on Friday, Aug. 30, authorities said.
Police in Linden were notified of a pursuit entering the area around 5:30 p.m., police said in a Facebook post.
The pursuit had been terminated on Route 1 near S. Wood Ave. A short time later, the stolen vehicle struck a curb near the intersection of S. Stiles Street 21st Street and became disabled, police said.

West Nile Virus Case In Hudson County, 2 Deaths In NJ Reported
New Jersey health officials are reporting an additional six cases of West Nile Virus including two deaths, and two presumptive viremic blood donor (PVD) cases in the state.
The six new WNV cases are residents of Bergen, Camden, Cumberland, Hudson, Mercer, and Middlesex counties (one 50+, two 60+, one 70+, two 80+). The two individuals who died were older adults from Cumberland and Mercer counties, the DOH said.

Nineteen retailers across New Jersey are facing $4,500 after an investigation found they'd been selling flavored vape products banned in the Garden State, the NJ Attorney General's Office said.
All 19 stores were issued a Notice of Violation after they were found to have violated the state's consumer protection laws, AG Matthew Platkin said.
