MTV 90s Legend Makes Grand Return To NJ For Book Launch
Bill Bellamy's career has come full circle. The Newark native, who was a top VJ on MTV in the 90s, will be appearing at Newark Symphony Hall on Tuesday, April 25, to celebrate his new memoir "Top Billin': Stories of Laughter, Lessons and Triumph," which chronicles how a kid from New Jersey ended up partying with Snoop Dogg and Tupac and even starring in his own movie. Newark To Honor City Native, Boxing Champ Shakur Stevenson
Featherweight boxing champion Shakur Stevenson will be getting a warm welcome from his hometown of Newark during a ceremony planned for Saturday, Mayor Ras Baraka said in a statement. Stevenson, with a 13-0 professional record, won the World Boxing Organization belt in a 12-round bout in Las Vegas in October. Stevenson, who won a medal in the Olympics, grew up in Newark as the eldest of nine children and was trained by his grandfather, Wali Moses, beginning at age 5. The ceremony will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Newark Symphony Hall, 1020 Broad St.
