Pedestrian Critically Injured In JC Hit-And-Run Crash: Police
A 35-year-old Jersey City resident was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash at midnight on Monday, May 15, authorities said. Jersey City police responded to Newark Avenue and Coles St and found the man with serious injuries, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. He was transported by EMS to Jersey City Medical Center where he is in critical but stable condition, Suarez said. The vehicle did not remain on the scene, Suarez said. Jersey City Chicken Chain Shutters After 12 Years
A popular chicken chain is closing its Jersey City location after 12 years. Bonchon Chicken on Newark Avenue will shutter Sunday, Aug. 28, according to a sign on the door. Jersey City Woman Burns Half Her Body In Cooking Accident
A Jersey City woman suffered burns to nearly 50 percent of her body in a cooking accident earlier this week. The 30-year-old victim was rushed to Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston with life-threatening injuries around 6:55 p.m. June 14, city officials said. The accident occurred on the 100 block of Newark Avenue.

: Off-Duty Jersey City Officer Brutally Beaten By 10 Men
An off-duty Jersey City police officer was hospitalized after being beaten by a group of 10 men in a racially-motivated attack over the weekend, authorities said. The 42-year-old white officer was bleeding form his head and face when his colleagues were flagged down near Grove Street and Newark Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said. A Jersey City dollar store is facing more than $90,000 in fines after owners overcharged customers for cleaning supplies among COVID-19 fears, city officials said. Prices of disinfectant wipes, sprays and rubbing alcohol were increased at the 99 Cent Dream store on Newark Avenue, according to Municipal Prosecutor Jake Hudnut, who helms the city's Quality of Life Task Force. Authorities: Armed Civilian Report Unfounded, Hudson County Courthouse Lockdown Lifted
UPDATE: Authorities lifted a lockdown at the Hudson County courthouse in Jersey City Thursday afternoon, saying that a report that a civilian was spotted with a gun was unfounded. The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that K-9 and SWAT units responded. The lockdown at the Newark Avenue complex lasted nearly two hours after the 2:15 p.m. report.
