Massive Blaze Destroys Union City Building, 52 People Displaced

A four-alarm fire caused a building in Union City to collapse in the early hour of Friday, April 14, the second major fire in the city this week.

The fire was at 19th St and Kerrigan Ave. No major injuries were reported, according to the Hoboken Fire Department. Some nearby roads remain closed, according to the Hoboken Fire Department.

A fundraiser has been set up to assist a family that was displaced due to the fire. According to the Red Cross, 52 people in 11 families were displaced by the fire.

On Wednesday, April 12,  a three-alarm fire tore through a multi-family home on 8th Street leaving 20 people homeless, Red Cross of New Jersey said.
