The bodies of two severely burned girls ages 6 and 8 were found at a Newark home following a fire over the weekend, officials said. Witnesses told detectives that there had been a birthday party for one of the girls on the second floor of the home and they'd been playing with fire near a couch in the hallway of the Eckert Street home on Saturday, Oct. 20, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Two people were injured after an explosion at an industrial gas company in Branchburg on the early morning of Wednesday, June 5, authorities said. A 33-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital after he cut his arm on a lawnmower in Somerset County on Wednesday, May 8, authorities said. First responders' attempts to save a man trapped in industrial machinery were futile as the man died on Friday morning, Aug. 25, in Ocean County.
