Unconscious Warren County Man Slams Pickup Truck, Crashes Into Bagel Shop: Police
A Warren County driver passed out behind the wheel Tuesday morning before running a red light, hitting another vehicle, and crashing into a nearby bagel shop, authorities said. Jeffrey Heymann, 62, was driving a 2006 Land Rover east on Route 57 in Hackettstown when he went unconscious and ran the red light at the Route 182 intersection around 4:45 a.m., local police said. Heymann, of Washington, then hit Mansfield Township resident Michael Danza, 51, who was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram south on Route 182, police said. Middlesex County Mayor Ticketed After Swerving To Avoid Dog, Hitting Car: Report
The mayor of a Middlesex County town was ticketed and had his car towed after he apparently swerved to avoid hitting a dog then struck a parked car near his home, NJ Advance Media reports. Carteret Mayor Daniel J. Reiman on Thursday was cited for careless driving for the crash on Carteret and Taylor avenues around 10:15 p.m. -- but told the outlet that he plans on fighting the ticket in court. A motorcyclist was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a box truck in Morris County Friday morning, police said. The motorcyclist — a 59-year-old East Hanover man — was riding south on North Passaic Avenue in Chatham when he was hit by a box truck crossing North Passaic Avenue from Harvard Street just before 10:35 a.m., local police said. An impaired out-of-state driver wasn't just carrying a bogus ID and a stolen credit card when North Arlington police arrested him, authorities said. Searching Elyjah J. Allen, 21, of Brooklyn at headquarters, officers found a gun hidden in his sneaker. Police had taken Allen into custody after stopping him for speeding on Sunday and finding him under the influence of alcohol or drugs on Sunday, Capt. Robert J. Reilly said.
