Potentially Harmful Chemicals Found In NJ Drinking Water
A New Jersey water company warned customers of potentially toxic chemicals in the drinking water Monday. The level of Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) in the water of all its customers in Carteret, Clark, Edison, Metuchen, South Plainfield and Woodbridge had exceeded acceptable regulatory standards, Middlesex Water Company said in a notice. Chemicals in PFOA have been linked to cancer. Middlesex Water in September was notified that PFOA samples were found at the treatment facility in South Plainfield. Convicted NJ Burglar Bound For Federal Prison Following Elizabeth Shooting
An ex-con who once left his cellphone behind after a home invasion in Woodbridge is headed to federal prison in connection with a shooting earlier this year in Elizabeth. Kevin Cordeiro, 34, of Elizabeth, pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Newark to being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition. Cordeiro was one of several men in masks who stormed a Woodridge home in 2008, beating a resident and his girlfriend, before fleeing empty-handed, authorities said at the time. Keyport Man With Warrants Nabbed In Secaucus For Overnight Car Burglaries
A Keyport man with four outstanding warrants across New Jersey was nabbed in Secaucus on Friday for committing overnight car burglaries, authorities said. Police assembled a “task force” of uniformed midnight tour patrol officers, after over a dozen residents' vehicles were burglarized overnight in the south end of Secaucus, specifically on County Avenue, Helen Street, Blanche Street, and Lincoln Avenue in July and August, according to the Secaucus Police Department. Members of the US Marshals captured a Linden man charged in a shooting that left four victims injured at a Woodbridge hotel last month, authorities announced. Khalil Burns, 27, was being held in the Middlesex County ail after his arrest Aug. 10, and charged with attempted murder, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. Twenty-nine bricks of heroin and eight grams of fentanyl were found by Pennsylvania State Police during a traffic stop of a New Jersey man, according to state police. Couple Sexually Assaulted, Robbed At Gunpoint In Woodbridge
Authorities in Woodbridge are on the hunt for two men believed to have sexually assaulted and robbed a couple at gunpoint on Friday. The man and woman were approached near Lee Street and Scott Place, in the Port Reading section of the township, when they were approached by a black man and a white man sometime in the evening hours, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. A 21-year-old Union County man died when he fell from an overpass onto the Garden State Parkway and was struck by a car Thursday, authorities said. Joshua Goldberg, of Scotch Plains, was walking on the Oak Tree Road overpass in Woodbridge when he fell over, landing on the roadway near milepost 132.1 around 5:25 p.m., New Jersey State Police told NJ.com.
