DWI Driver, 60, Wedges SUV Under Tractor Trailer On Route 3, Police Say
A 60-year-old Kearny man is facing charges after a DWI crash in which his SUV became wedged under a tractor trailer on Route 3, police in East Rutherford said.
Joseph Whiteman's white 2020 Nissan Rogue had become stuck under a tractor trailer that was stopped on the westbound side of the roadway around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, East Rutherford Police Capt. Jeff Yannacone said.
Whiteman was arrested at the scene and charged with DWI, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to observe traffic lanes, and driving in an unsafe manner, police said.

A 33-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed in Fort Lee by an SUV driven by a Union City motorist, authorities said.
Mark Williams of Paterson was struck by the southbound 2016 Porsche Cayenne on Lemoine Avenue at Washington Avenue, just north of the George Washington Bridge, around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Fort Lee Police Capt. Edward Young said.
Responding officers immediately began CPR on the unresponsive victim, who was taken to Holy Name Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead soon after, the captain said.

2 Pedestrians Killed On Route 80 ID'd As Long Island Residents
Two pedestrians struck and killed by an SUV on Route 80 before dawn Monday have been identified as Long Island residents.
A Honda SUV was traveling in the eastbound lanes when it struck Richard Dennelly, 73, and Maria Schellberg, 55, of Great Neck, NY, near milepost 1.8 in Knowlton Township just after 3 a.m., NJSP Sgts. Philip Curry and Alejandro Goez told Daily Voice.
Both victims were killed in the crash, Curry said.
