A 20-year-old man wanted for murder in a triple shooting in Jersey City was taken into custody after he was busted on pot charges in Florida, authorities said. Darren Estevez was arrested Sunday, June 23, and being held in Florida as a fugitive of justice pending extradition to New Jersey in connection with the April 7 incident that left one man dead and two others wounded, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Man Shot In East Orange, Police Say
A 24-year-old East Orange man was shot on the evening of Monday, June 24, authorities said. At 7:25 p.m., officers responded to 210 S. Burnet Street and found the man shot in the right ankle, East Orange police said. He was treated and released from University Hospital, police said. Police are looking for four suspects who were wearing masks and fled the scene in a white Mercedes Benz sedan, officers said. The shooting remains under investigation, police said. A 20-year-old East Orange man was fatally shot in Irvington on early Monday morning, June 24, authorities said. At 1:22 a.m., Irvington police responded to the 300 block of 21st Street and found Quashawn Moses suffering from gunshot wounds, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Irvington Public Safety Director Tracy Bowers said. He was pronounced dead at 2:59 a.m., authorities said. A 30-year-old Newark woman whose 5-year-old son shot and killed his 4-year-old brother, has been convicted in the 2022 murder of a man, authorities said. Itiyanah Spruill was convicted of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the fatal shooting of Lance Sally, Jr. in Nov. 2022, following a two-week trial, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said. A man was shot in Newark on the evening of Saturday, June 16, authorities said. At 7:33 p.m., officers responded to Van Vechten Street near Hanford Street and found a man who had been shot, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. A 25-year-old Newark resident has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting on Thursday June 13, authorities said. At 9 p.m., Newark police responded to Boys Park at Sussex Avenue and Duryea Street and located Raymeer Tarver suffering from gunshot wounds near a basketball court in the park, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. Tarver was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead soon after, Stephens and Frage said.
