Verona first responders had a harrowing rescue on Tuesday, Nov. 8, treating a cardiac emergency in a basement, police said. At 11:20 a.m., police, rescue, fire along with the Department of Public Works and first responders from Montclair and Atlantic responded to a cardiac related medical emergency inside the basement of a building at Bloomfield Avenue and Fairfield Avenue, officers said. Police ID Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Montclair
Police in Montclair have identified the pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle over the weekend. Vivian Folkenflik, 83, of the Township, was struck at Bellevue Avenue and Park Street around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Montclair Police Chief Todd Conforti said. Folkenflik was transported to Mountainside Medical Center and pronounced dead at 1 p.m. The driver remained at the scene. A Montclair police officer did his job properly before a robbery suspect he was pursuing was involved in a crash that killed him and a passenger, a grand jury has found. Officer Michael Kupchak had activated the overhead emergency lights on his marked patrol cruiser in an attempt to stop a vehicle driven by Gregory Dukes on May 10, 2022. In another police vehicle behind him was Officer Brandon Taylor.
