Dumpster Fire Doused At Avalon Apartments In Wood-Ridge
A building manager kept a trash bin fire in the basement of a Wood-Ridge apartment complex from spreading and borough responders took it from there, authorities said. Wood-Ridge Lt. Jeffrey Geisler and Officers Joseph Barbiera and Michael Donato evacuated the building at the Avalon at Westmount Station apartments shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, Capt. Unidentified Man's Body Found Amid Wreckage Of Hawthorne Auto Repair Shop Fire
Authorities were trying to identify a man whose body was found at the scene of a destructive fire at an auto repair shop in Hawthorne. The blaze ignited among tires, pallets and debris, then spread to three trucks behind Luscher’s Automotive between 4th and Lafayette avenues shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, Hawthorne Fire Chief Joseph Speranza said. ): Gas Tanker Flips From One Side Of Route 17 To Other, Dealership Destroyed
In nothing short of a miracle, no serious injuries were reported after a gas tanker truck exploded into a huge fireball on Route 17 Monday morning. A used car dealership and many of its two dozen or so vehicles were destroyed in the five-alarm blaze after the truck and a passenger vehicle collided near the U-turn at the White Castle on the highway's southbound side in Hasbrouck Heights at 5:43 a.m. Jan. 8. A fire at a Plainfield apartment building with a history of safety troubles left 15 people injured and displaced at least seven families, officials said. The fire on at 515 West 7th Street broke out around 4:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, displacing 42 families — 35 of whom were allowed to return home later that day. Blaze Forces Evacuation At Swan Motel: Linden PD
Firefighters responded to a fire at The Swan Motel on Tuesday, Nov. 28, Linden police said. The fire was on the second floor inside a motel room and started at 10:15 p.m., police said. Occupants were safely evacuated from their room and no injuries were reported, police said. The fire was contained to the motel room and the fire was declared under control after 30 minutes, police said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, police said. The Franklin Township (Somerset County) Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. Detective Greg Wilson died on Wednesday evening, Nov. 22, at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, his obituary says. The blaze at a fire at 5222 Bergenline Ave., located above the Marin Pharmacy, broke out around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
