One Of Sussex County's Newest First Responders 62, Killed In UTV Crash: Nysp
A 62-year-old Sussex County first responder was killed when his UTV was struck by a pickup truck in upstate New York on the evening of Sunday, Sept. 1, authorities said.
At 6 p.m., William Timko, a Wantage resident and member of the fire department, was operating a UTV in Turin, traveling eastbound, when he failed to acknowledge a yield sign at the intersection of State Route 12 and Milk House Road and was struck by a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling southbound on State Route 12, New York State Police said.

One firefighter was injured and nearly 40 people were displaced following a three-alarm blaze in Newark on Monday, April 22, authorities said.
At 6:59 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire at 576 Broadway, an occupied 3-story, multi-use, multi-family building, that also houses a supermarket and El Kiosko Restaurant and Grill, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.

Video: Fire Destroys Home Of Kearny Mom, Son
A Kearny mom and her son lost their dog, personal belongings and home in a Tuesday night fire, family friends said.
The blaze broke out on the second floor of the 123 Stuyvesant Ave., around 10:38 p.m., with flames extending to the attic, Deputy Kearny Fire Chief Joseph Mastandrea said.
Firefighters from Kearny, Jersey City, Kearny and Harrison had the blaze under control in a little more than an hour, Mastandrea said.
One of the occupants sustained minor injuries at the scene but refused treatment, he said.
Investigators remained at the scene Wednesday morning to determine the cause.
