YONKERS, N.Y. -- John C. "Jack" Moynihan Sr., 82, of Yonkers, died Dec. 21.
He was born to the late Cornelius F and Catherine (Ronan) Monahan in Yonkers, where he graduated from Gorton High School.
Moynihan was a New York State police officer with more than 26 years of service. He was a sergeant in the Organized Crime Task Force, serving as an investigator; he currently was employed by Yonkers Raceway.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Veteran Post #1666, the "Wildcats," and the Police Benevolent Association.
Moynihan is survived by his wife Maryanne Moynihan; his son John C. Moynihan Jr.; his granddaughter Brianna Moynihan, and nieces and nephews Timothy, Brian, Jane Piche, George Conn, John Conn and Maryanne D'Donato.
He was predeceased by his daughter Margaret "Peggy" Moynihan and his brother Cornelius (Neil) Moynihan.
Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Christ the King Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
