Shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, Yonkers police received reports of a child that was struck by a vehicle on Glenwood Avenue, prompting intervention from the Emergency Service Unit and 4th Precinct, Sgt. Dean Politopoulos said.
According to Politopoulos, the child was attempting to cross the street, and the operator of a coupe swerved to avoid her but side swiped her in the process before coming to a stop. The 10-year-old suffered minor injuries to her hand and was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary treatment, where she was met by her family.
Police said that the driver was cooperative throughout the process and was issued a citation for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
