Cinematographer Steven Romano has announced that he purchased a 10,000-square-foot property at 15 School St. in Yonkers, where he will open a production studio where a former banana warehouse once stood.
According to Romano, he plans to use the space for television and motion picture production, as well as television commercials.
“I’m looking to add another dimension to the bustling Yonkers economy,” he stated. “The price was right, the building is incredible and the city is an ideal location for film and television production.”
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano said that the property at 15 School St., as well as similar nearby properties in the city, are “truly the catalysts for Yonkers’ economic growth.”
“It’s the small businesses filing up the city that is especially gratifying,” he added. “Even as larger developers work on some of our larger sites, it’s equally important when individuals come and make their big investment in our city.”
