'Exhausted, Stressed': Hudson Valley Healthcare Workers To March For Better Conditions A group of Hudson Valley healthcare workers is asking for better conditions and the opportunity to negotiate a contract.  As part of their effort to improve circumstances at hospitals in both Dutchess and Putnam counties, a "Dignity March" will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Poughkeepsie starting at Vassar Brothers Hospital at 45 Reade Pl. and ending at the Mid-Hudson Bridge, according to the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East union.  Those organizing the march said that poor working conditions at both Vassar Brothers Hospital and Putnam Hospi…

Police Respond To Seven Shootings In Two Days In Hudson Valley Police in one area city responded to seven shootings and numerous calls of shots fired in a two-day time period. The City of Poughkeepsie Police said the violence began around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, when officers responded were dispatched to Lent Street for a report of past occurred shots fired.  When officers arrived, they found an occupied residence had been struck by gunfire approximately 30 minutes prior to the call. Police ID Two Men, Woman Hospitalized After Wrong-Way Head-On Crash Police have identified three people hospitalized in a wrong-way, head-on crash that caused the closure of a stretch of the Taconic State Parkway this week. It happened on the southbound side around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4 in Pleasant Valley just south of Exit 54 (Route 44). An investigation revealed a 2019 Mercedes Sprinter, operated by Jim George, 42, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, was driving north in the southbound lanes and struck a 2017 Subaru Impreza, state police said. George was transported to Vassar Brothers Hospital, and treated for non-life threatening injurie…
