Car Fire Nearly Spreads To Garage At Home In Westchester
Thanks to quick action from firefighters, a Northern Westchester home remained unscathed after a car burst into flames inside its garage. The blaze began on Tuesday, July 30, just before 7 p.m., when a vehicle went up in flames inside a Chappaqua residence on North Way, according to the Chappaqua Fire Department. Responding fire crews found smoke pouring from the home's garage and were able to knock out the flames inside the car. School Fire: Solar Panel Goes Up In Flames In Westchester
A burnt-out solar panel caused flames to erupt on the roof of a school in Northern Westchester, requiring a quick response from numerous fire departments. The blaze happened on Friday, July 21 around 1:40 p.m., when the Pocantico Hills and Archville Fire Departments were sent to the Pocantico Hills Central School for a fire on the roof. Fast-Moving Fire Rips Through Building In Westchester
A fast-moving fire that heavily damaged a building is under investigation in Northern Westchester. The fire was discovered around 8:13 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, when the Chappaqua Fire Department was called to the area behind their firehouse for a reported garage fire, the department said. First arriving units, who found flames shooting out of the roof, determined the address to be on Memorial Drive, in a building that had a significant fire in September 2020. A young man in crisis was saved by police from jumping off a Westchester bridge to end his life. The incident took place around 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, when police were alerted to a person on the bridge that runs over the Saw Mill River Parkway at Pleasantville Road, said Pleasantville Police Chief Erik Grutzner. 22nd Anniversary Memorial Held For White Plains Worker Stabbed To Death
Twenty-two years ago, the body of a Pleasantville firefighter was found after a blizzard. Family members of the 50-year-old Tom Dorr were suspects interviewed by police, but no one was charged. Fellow volunteer firefighters, co-workers and friends of Dorr, who worked for the White Plains Water Department, plan their an annual vigil on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant park where Dorr was slain.
