Man Accused Of Menacing 18-Year-Old Woman With Pistol After Crash In Hudson Valley A 52-year-old man is facing criminal charges after police said he brandished a gun following a car crash in the Hudson Valley. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened June 17 on Route 9D in the village of Cold Spring. According to investigators, an 18-year-old Cold Spring woman was driving south on Route 9D near the Breakneck Tunnel when she passed a vehicle in front of her. She was unable to get back into her lane in time and her driver’s side mirror struck the mirror of an oncoming vehicle being driven by a Beacon man, the sheriff's office said. The impact sent …

Rare Virus Killing Deer In Hudson Valley Dozens of dead white-tailed deer found at separate locations in parts of the region are now being linked to a rare virus. After conducting tests, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC)  confirmed that several white-tailed deer in the towns of Nelsonville and Cold Spring in Putnam County and near Goshen in Orange County died after contracting Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD).  EHD virus is carried by biting midges, small bugs often called no-see-ums or 'punkies,' according to the DEC. Anti-Semitic Graffiti Scrawled On Jewish Family's Home Under Construction In Putnam The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible hate crime that took place in the Village of Nelsonville. A Jewish family building a home in the village, a hamlet of Cold Spring, found swastikas and hate speech spray-painted on the home's walls and at the construction site. A spokesperson for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office confirmed the incident and said it is in the early stages of determining if the incident is a hate crime.
