Firefighters Work Quickly To Knock Down Mother's Day Fire In Tarrytown All hands were on deck on Mother’s Day when a blaze broke out at an area home, prompting a heavy response by local fire departments. Crews from the Tarrytown Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. Arriving in minutes, Chief Patrick Derivan said that there was a heavy smoke condition, with the flames breaching through the roof. In response, additional crews from Irvington, Ardsley, Sleepy Hollow, Dobbs Ferry and Elmsford offered mutual aid. The call for the fire came in around 3 p.m. Wednesday with the department responding within minutes, Chief Bill Nikisher was quick to call for reinforcements.
