I-287 Fully Reopens After Gasoline Tanker Fire This story has been updated. I-287 is now fully reopened after a fire broke out on a gasoline tanker in White Plains. All lanes both ways were initially closed between Exit 9A (I-684) and Exit 9 (Hutchinson River Parkway) after the incident occurred just before 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, leading to the shutdown of the highway in both directions. Westbound lanes reopened after about an hour.

Police In Westchester Investigate False Fire Report Police in Scarsdale are investigating a false report of a fire in the village. Members of the Scarsdale Police and Fire departments responded to an Old Lyme Road residence at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, where there were reports of smoke coming from a home. Upon arrival, police officers and firefighters found no evidence of fire or smoke. Investigators spoke with the homeowner, who said that he did not call, and does not know who called, but noted that this has happened on several occasions.
